You’ve heard of laser hair removal, laser teeth whitening, and even laser pointers, but did you know that you can use laser technology to help give you a more youthful glow? To help improve your skin’s overall appearance and texture, Dr. Tom Crais likes to use a laser treatment system called Affirm CO2 Laser Resurfacing also known as Smart Skin. To help you decide if this is the right option for you, we have created a brief informational guide. Read on to learn more.
What Is Laser Resurfacing?
In short, laser resurfacing is used to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, pigmented blemishes, and acne scars. Affirm CO2 Laser Resurfacing works by treating thousands of micro portions of the skin at a time. By using laser energy, the skin will be vaporized and collagen growth will be stimulated.
What Is the Treatment Like?
When you think of a laser treatment, it might sound a bit intimidating. However, you can rest assured that with Dr. Crais’ expertise, you are in the best of hands . Once a topical anesthetic is applied to your skin, Dr. Crais will start the laser treatment. During the treatment, you shouldn’t feel a thing— which means that you can virtually sit back and relax. For more advanced skin damage, more aggressive skin resurfacing which requires local anesthesia and pain medications taken by mouth. However, the lite laser peel is meant to give you the fresh skin look with minimal time for the procedure and recovery whereby you choose the down time you want. This procedure can be used on most all sun exposed and damaged areas of the body, including the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, and legs.
What Kinds of Results Will You Get?
Immediately following your laser peel, you can expect your skin to feel a bit sensitive to the touch, dry, and itchy— kind of like a sunburn. However, that should subside after several days. Shortly after your treatment, you will start to notice that your skin is smoother and has more volume. Over time, results will become more and more evident— leaving your skin looking much younger. Your depth and extent of sun damage and your requests will determine the level of resurfacing to be achieved and that determines the duration of recovery.
